Meet Holly!

Welcome to my northeast Ohio home where I have returned to my roots. So much so that I am now in the same neighborhood I first grew up in!

You can often find me curling up on the couch with some yarn, one of my sweet little kitty companions. These days I enjoy a variety of YouTube channels that range from other crocheters & knitters all the way to functional medicine podcasts. What a time to be alive. I also occasionally indulge in Southern Charm, Below Deck and I can’t miss an episode of Survivor!

My grandma on my mom’s side taught me to crochet around the age of five. I think she was just trying to keep me occupied because I was always full of questions when I was young. Crochet gave me an activity to focus on. She crocheted the most elaborate period costumes for Barbie dolls and they were a sight to be admired. No wonder why I wanted to figure out what she was up to! While I eventually made a handful of those detailed dresses myself, my interest in crochet spanned much more diverse projects and I crocheted whatever struck my fancy.

Not much has changed! 🙃

I tried many times over those years to figure out how to knit, but YouTube wasn’t around until I was well into my 20s. Even then, I just couldn’t seem to get the hang of it, and I often found myself thinking I was making progress. Suddenly a whole mess of stitches would just *zhooop* right off the needles and I had no idea how to salvage all that hard work. Eventually I was home from work for about two weeks one very snowy January (thanks appendicitis) and I was d.e.t.e.r.m.i.n.e.d. This time I finally found a video that talked about this weird continental knitting thing. This style had me holding my yarn similar to crochet and it clicked. It also helped that I’d ditched the stupid aluminum needles from Walmart and found some yarn security in the form of Clover bamboo knitting needles.

The rest, as they say is history….

These days, I usually make things to display or use around my house, from seasonal decorations to throw pillows and yes, even amigurumi plushies can be used as decor. I want my home to feel like a cozy little sanctuary. I also enjoy making sweaters and will sometimes find myself in a sock phase.
